Curly hair is predisposed to ingrown hair, or the so called razor bumps, but this condition does not avoid the other types of hair. It appears in the form of a red bump similar to a pimple and sometimes it leads to irritation, inflammation or swelling. If you want to get rid of these little bumps, here are some remedies.
Aspirin – take 2 aspirin tablets, crush them and mix the powder with water until you get a paste, then add ½ tablespoon of honey and apply through circular motions. Wait for about 10 minutes and then wash off with lukewarm water. Repeat twice a week. Pay attention, though, if your skin is sensitive, you might want to stay clear of topical aspirin application.
Baking Soda – take 1 tablespoon of baking soda and dissolve it into 250 ml of water. Wet a cotton swab into this solution and dab the affected regions. Allow it to act for up to 7 minutes before rinsing. Repeat the method three times a day. The baking soda will calm the inflammation and soothe the itching and irritation.
Sugar – use this common ingredient as an exfoliator to remove dead skin cells and help the hair pierce the skin easier. Take 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil, 2 drops of tea tree oil and 2 drops of lavender oil. Mix them well and apply on the affected area through circular massage. Wash off with lukewarm water and repeat the process twice a week.
Tea Tree Oil – avert the infection by dipping a cotton swab into 6 drops of tea tree essential oil mixed with 2 tablespoons of distilled water. Apply on the cleansed area and then rinse with warm water after 10 minutes. Repeat 2 or 3 times a day.
